I have a few laptops which have a broken power connector. It is virtually impossible to repair them. I'm sure I saw somewhere a device which was essentially a power supply which powered the laptop through the battery connector. Does anyone know where I can get one?

They are Dell Latitude D600 and D610 machines.

Why are there Marines on Navy ships?
Sheep would be too obvious.

I have never seen them, but I have been saying for years that someone should
build them. As I bet they would sell many of them.

If it was just for me I'd just wire it up. But they are used by many pe=
ople and would easily get broken if the job wasn't secure.

I suppose the problem is there are so many different battery shapes available. A lot of design for only a few sales.

US Attorney General Ashcroft is visiting an elementary school. After the typical civics presentation to the class, he announces, "All right, boys and girls, you can all ask me questions now."
A young boy named Bobby raises his hand and says, "I have three questions:
1. Why are you using the USA Patriot Act to limit Americans' civil liberties?
2. Why hasn't the U.S. caught Osama bin Laden yet?
3. Why haven't we found the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?"
Just then the bell sounds and all the kids run out to the playground.
Fifteen minutes later, the kids come back in class and Ashcroft says, "I'm sorry we were interrupted by the bell. Now, you can all ask me questions."
A young girl named Charlene raises her hand and says, "I have five questions:
1. Why are you using the USA Patriot Act to limit Americans' civil liberties?
2. Why hasn't the U.S. caught Osama bin Laden yet?
3. Why haven't we found the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?
4. Why did the bell go off 20 minutes early? and
5. Where's Bobby?"

The Patriot Act limits terrorists, not Americans.

2. Why hasn't the U.S. caught Osama bin Laden yet?
Pakistan doesn't want him caught; they are protecting him.

3. Why haven't we found the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?"
WMD have been found in Iraq—hundreds of tons of them. The MSM just doesn't
want to admit to it.

I did not write any of the above. I am not into politics.

And further misuse of the followup header will result in the killfile being activated.

Yes, just perfect for those whom sells clone batteries for every make and
model. I see this as a million dollar market. Heck maybe a billion dollar
market.

But then batteries fail more often than power sockets.

Or surely someone would have designed them?

An Arab diplomat visiting the US for the first time was being wined and dined by the State Department. The Grand Emir was unused to the salt in American foods (french fries, cheeses, salami, anchovies etc.,) and was constantly sending his man-servant Abdul to fetch him a glass of water.
Time and again, Abdul would scamper off and return with a glass of water, but then came the time when he returned empty-handed. "Abdul, you son of an ugly camel, where is my water??" demanded the Grand Emir.
"A thousand pardons, O Illustrious One," stammered the wretched Abdul, "white man sit on well."
